Due to the high altitude, the city is home to the United States Olympic Training Center where many national athletes train and make the city their home. The city was named the number one Best Big City in Best Places to Live by Money magazine in 2006. The school district serving the city is Colorado Springs School District 11, one of the oldest districts in the area.
